NEW YORK -- The climactic season finale of Showtime’s "Homeland" has recorded some of the drama’s best viewership numbers.

The Nielsen company says 2.4 million people watched the end to the show’s third season in the episode’s first run Sunday night, with the total reaching 2.9 million when the night’s two reruns are added in. Those are the highest-ever first night numbers for "Homeland."

Between the multiple showings, time shifting and on-demand viewing, generally about 7 million people watch a new "Homeland" episode each week.

That’s why Showtime’s news release on the ratings didn’t mention the plot twist -- stop reading now if you don’t want to know it -- of killing off one of the lead characters, Nicholas Brody, played by Damian Lewis.

Changes in the works for Fox’s ‘The X-Factor’

LOS ANGELES -- Simon Cowell is plotting changes for "The X Factor," including new judges and a new role for him.

Cowell, the show’s producer, says "X Factor" may be cut back to one night instead of two, and format changes are under discussion to keep it fresh.

Cowell says the judging panel probably will be different. Besides Cowell, the "X Factor" judges include Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio.

Cowell says he has recruits in mind, but he declined to identify them. He says he envisions what he called a "different kind of role" for himself, but he wouldn’t be more specific.

The show’s ratings have dipped in season three. The winner will be announced on the finale Thursday.

Co-star of MTV’s ‘Teen Mom 2’ arrested in S.C.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- One of the stars of MTV’s "Teen Mom 2" has been arrested in South Carolina and charged with breaching the peace.

Jail records show 21-year-old Jenelle Lauren Evans was booked into the Horry County jail just after 5 p.m. Saturday. She was released about an hour later.

Police say they were called Saturday afternoon about a man and a woman yelling outside a North Myrtle Beach home. Evans’ boyfriend told police she locked him out of the house.

Evans was arrested earlier this year in North Carolina on drug and assault charges. Her lawyer in that case said he wasn’t representing her on the South Carolina charges, and jail records listed no other attorney for her.

"Teen Mom" documents the challenges of four teens’ first years of motherhood.
