PITTSFIELD -- Mr. Finn’s Cabaret’s 2014 season at Barrington Stage begins this weekend when Amanda McBroom returns for three performances of "Let’s Fall in Love."
Performances begin Friday at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden St. where the show is scheduled to run through Sunday. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday.
McBroom will be joined by her accompanist Michele Brourman in an evening of romantic songs by, among others, Cole Porter, Jacques Brel, Sammy Cahn, Jerome Kern, and McBroom.
McBroom first came to the attention of the music public when Bette Midler’s version of her song "The Rose" hit number one all over the world in 1979. But it was McBroom’s performance of her own song on the Golden Globes (she won), the Grammys (she didn’t) and The Tonight Show that launched her career as a singer as well as songwriter.
In addition to Midler, her songs have been recorded by Leanne Rimes, Barry Manilow, Judy Collins, Barbara Cook, Anne Murray, Harry Belafonte, Betty Buckley, Stephanie Mills, The Manhattan Transfer, Donny Osmond, and the Chipmunks.
