Pittsfield: Nuclea to share cancer-test findings
Nuclea Biotechnologies, Inc. will be presenting a poster on Fatty Acid Synthase at today’s annual meeting of the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO) at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.
The poster illustrates Nuclea’s findings regarding the predictive nature of FAS for prostate cancer, and highlights the need to develop alternative tests to PSA. The post will be presented by Ying Xu, Nuclea’s mass spectronomy specialist.
Pittsfield: Economic group lands $45K grant
The Pittsfield Economic Revitalization Corporation has received a seventh round of funds that will be awarded to businesses in Pittsfield and Berkshire County for technical assistance services, such as financial, architectural, legal, engineering or specialized business planning services.
The $45,000 grant was awarded to PERC by the Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation.
The purpose of the technical assistance grant program is to help small businesses expand, grow, improve their operations and create jobs. Applicants are considered a small business if they meet the U.S. Small Business Administration’s definition of a small business, which includes firms with a net worth of up to $18 million, and net income up to $6 million. Business with up to 20 employees are encouraged to apply for these funds.

Pittsfield: Open house at new chiropractic site
Chiropracticworks of Pittsfield will hold an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at its new location at 374 South St. Current practice members and the community are invited to see the new location.
Dr. Scott Garber is also introducing new technology -- the Foot Leveler’s Associate digital scanner, which is used to detect postural deficiencies by examining the three arches of the foot.
He will also continue to utilize The Insight Subluxation Station, which provides patients a picture into their nervous system.
