Pittsfield: First financial security workshop set
The first in a series of five weekly loss-prevention and security workshops designed for small businesses will take place on Thursday at the 1Berkshire Central Station offices at 66 Allen St.
"Protecting Your Assets" will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. The workshop was originally scheduled to take place on Oct. 18, but was postponed. The event is free and open to area businesses.
The seminar will provide an overview of loss prevention, ORC (Organized Retail Crime), and merchants laws. The series is sponsored by the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce in coordination with the Pittsfield Police Department, Greylock Federal Credit Union, and Walmart. Pittsfield: Immigrant center starts fundraising
The Berkshire Immigrant Center is holding a series of fundraisers at various immigrant owned restaurants in the county to address a funding crisis caused by cutbacks in federal funds.
The series begins on Monday, Oct. 29 with modern Indian cuisine at Spice Root, 23 Water St., in Williamstown.
The cost for dinner is $25. Reservations are available by calling (413) 458-5200. They are strongly suggested because last year's event sold out. Spice Root has pledged 70 percent of the proceeds to help the center reach its funding goals.
Pittsfield: BYP collects for food and coat drive
The Berkshire Young Professionals are collecting donations of non-perishable food items and coats through Wednesday, Oct. 31 in support of the Village Ambulance 9-1-1 Food and Coat Drive.
To assist in the support of individuals and organizations, Village Ambulance is seeking donations of non-perishable food items; clean, gently used coats; or grocery store gift cards
A collection day is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday Nov. 2, at the Harper Center, 118 Church St. in Williamstown. But donations may be dropped off at 30 Water St. in Williamstown at any time. If transportation isn't possible, call (413) 458-4889 or (413) 884-5729 for donation pickup. All donations are tax deductible.
BYP is handling collections in central Berkshire County at its headquarters located in Pittsfield, while also assisting in the pickup of donations throughout the county. Deliver items to 66 Allen St. in Pittsfield or call (413) 499-4000, ext. 126 to arrange for a pickup.
