Pittsfield: QualPrint opens photo/art contest

QualPrint has made application forms available for its 30th annual "A Closer Look at the Berkshires" photography and art contest.

The company's 2014 calendar will feature entries from the contest's top 12 winners, along with runner-ups, and many samplings from the entrants. Over 50 honorable mention winners will be included in the 2014 calendar.

The deadline for submissions is Monday, April 30. Submissions can be delivered or mailed to QualPrint at 3 Federico Drive in Pittsfield. No email submissions will be accepted.

Application forms are available at most Berkshire County libraries; area Chambers of Commerce; the Prime Outlets at Lee; the Berkshire Mall in Lanesborough; the 1Berkshire building in Pittsfield, and at select Berkshire Bank branches. They can also be obtained at QualPrint headquarters at 3 Federico Drive. A PDF file of the application form can be downloaded electroncally in the About Us section of the company website, www.qualprint.com.

Full-color photos, transparencies, slides, paintings, and digital images with a horizontal format are being accepted. Only full-color submissions will be accepted. Entries can portray people, places, animals, activities, landscapes, buildings and cultural attractions but they must be located in Berkshire County.

Pittsfield: Nutrition Center taps new board

The Nutrition Center, a nonprofit that provides clinical counseling and nutrition-focused cooking classes throughout the Berkshires, has announced its new board of directors.

The new chairman is Jonathan William McCracken, a strategic consultant for Helia Land Design in Great Barrington. He succeeds Tom Sirios, the president of Berkshire Hills Financial.

The executive board's other members are Yuki Cohen of Berkshire Bank Wealth Management, treasurer and interim secretary; and Roberto Flores, the owner of Good Dogs Farm in Sheffield, vice chairman.

The board includes Denis Guyer, operations manager and special projects for Iredale Mineral Cosmetics in Great Barrington; and Lindsey Schmid, the director of marketing at the Berkshire Visitors Bureau.
