New York City Ballet will come to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center with the premiere of a ballet by New York City Ballet dancer Justin Peck, new ballets by Christopher Wheeldon and Benjamin Millepied, and the first-ever SPAC performances of Peter Martin's ‘The Waltz Project' and Wheeldon's ‘DGV: Danse à Grande Vitesse,' July 10-21.
Ellen Sinopoli's sight-specific dance, ‘Underground Play ground,' will seek unsuspecting audiences in al fresco Capital District venues. According to Sinopoli, each performance lasts 10 to 15 minutes and is performed with live music by a percussionist. Since playgrounds are all different, the work has a strong improvisational quality, she said.
And the Berkshire Museum and Proctor's G.E. Theatre will offer that great Russian ballet ‘Raymonda,' transmitted in HD from the Boshoi, and Proctor's adds the enduring favorite ‘Sleeping Beauty' from the Royal Ballet in London. Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival
