NORTH ADAMS -- For the April school vacation week, Mass MoCA will combine art and the outdoors in its Spring Break Art Detox, a series of three workshops for children ages 5 to 12; parents are welcome to accompany them. Workshops will run from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, and on Thursday, April 18, and Friday, April 19, in North Adams.

Each session will offer two art projects and healthy snacks. The workshops will focus on themes of recycling and giving back to nature, in celebration of Earth Day on Monday, April 22. Kids can sign up for one, two, or all three sessions. Children can work independently, or families can work on the projects together.

On Wednesday, projects kick off with make-your-own terrariums,, and the group will get their hands dirty by making some earth-friendly non-edible dirt cupcakes.

On Thursday, April 18, kids will create birdhouses and seed bookmarks that can be planted. Friday, April 19, they will make stepping-stones to put in the yard and magical bubble wands to dance with in the sunshine.

Children will help prepare a healthy snack every day. (Please alert the education departmentto any food allergies.) To register, call (413) 662-2111. Mass MoCA's main galleries and Kidspace will be open every day during April break, Monday to Friday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information, visit www.
