GREAT BARRINGTON - Mass Live Arts, a summer festival of contemporary and experimental performing arts, returns for its second year to Bard College at Simon's Rock in the Berkshires, through July 26. This year's offerings have expanded from performances to a rotating gallery of visual works by theater artists Andrew Schneider (of The Wooster Group), Anne Gridley and Nature Theater of Oklahoma.

The gallery focuses on Participatory Art, encouraging the audience to engage directly in the creative work - through acting in a scene with a complete stranger, sitting for a blind contour portrait or creating their own animated impressions of an iconic building. All exhibitions take place at Daniel Arts Center, Bard College at Simon's Rock at 84 Alford Road in Great Barrington, free and open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Reservations are required, info@masslivearts.org)

Other happenings in the festival include performances from choreographer Faye Driscoll (July 10-12), playwright Sibyl Kempson with musician Mike Iveson, Jr. (July 16-18), and director Phil Soltanoff (July 25-27), along with a Monday Night Film Series of Reza Abdoh's Bogeyman Trilogy (July 7, 14 and 21).
