The popular Shire City Sessions is back for the summer, kicking off the free concert series on Monday, with the Banditos. At 6 p.m. the group will take the stage at The Common on First Street in Pittsfield, Mass. Be ready to rock!

Book release

A whale of a poetry book

Be inspired from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Monday at a book launch party for 'Red Barn Volume 2,' filled with poems created by the Arrowhead Poetry Workshop. The event is free at the home of Herman Melville in Pittsfield, Mass.


Throw down your moves

The Berkshire Museum and Jacob's Pillow will host a D.R.E.A.M. RING Dance Event on Friday. The day is filled with events at the Pittsfield, Mass., museum and ends with a dance competition from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Free.


A parade of fun fit for kids

Grab your wagon or favorite tricycle and head over to the Bennington Free Library on Tuesday. At 10:30 a.m., little readers, and riders, are encouraged to join The Great Tricycle Parade outside in the Vermont library's courtyard.


Music 'on the Green' returns

Tuesday nights in the summer mean free live music in Manchester, Vt., where the Concert on the Green series is held. From 6 to 8 p.m., stop by the Factory Point Town Green, on Depot Street, on Tuesday to hear So Far.


Take a town-wide hike

Join the celebration on Saturday and explore Great Barrington's connection to the Appalachian Trail. The daylong event includes guided hikes, helping with trail maintenance and a community potluck.


The Bard hits the streets

The play-within-a-play-within-a-play will take center stage at Maple Street School in Manchester Center, Vt. Shakespeare on Main Street will present "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead," Friday through Sunday.
