In Adams, Mass., you party on Sunday and hike on Monday. At least, during Columbus Day Weekend you do in honor of the annual ramble up Mount Greylock. Even if you aren't a hiker, there's plenty to do to mark the unofficial kick off of the fall season in the Berkshires.
RambleFest: From noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, celebrate at the official Ramble party at the Adams Visitors Center, 3 Hoosac St., Adams. There will be music by CJ Field and Whiskey City, historic horse-drawn Trolley Tours, pumpkin carving, a toasty campfire with marshmallows and food and beer for purchase. It's free to join the fun. But don't have too much fun if you plan to be in hiking shape the next day!
