Developer/artist Rudd teamed up with Lee two years ago to produce the paperback tome. Just 5,000 of the books were printed, and they will start showing up in a variety of places, including art museums, hardware stores and hotels, according to Rudd.
The book's target audience is visitors to the area, although local folks might like it too, Rudd said.
"The idea was not to go overboard, but to come up with something that people will want to put in their suitcases when they leave," Rudd said. "Then, when they look back at it, maybe they'll want to come back for another visit."
The cost of publishing was paid for by donations from Hoosac Bank and local artists, Rudd said. The book costs $14.95.
"Nobody is going to get rich from it, but maybe it will pay for some of (Lee's) time," Rudd said.
Along with featuring local landscapes, "It's kind of a bridge between rejuvenated architecture of the past and some of the new stuff that is coming on," Rudd said.
The photographs feature images from Williamstown, North Adams and Adams.
"They are three separate towns, but collectively, they make up quite a powerhouse," Rudd said.
Lee, who has worked as a graphic artist for ABC News and the News Hour with Jim Lehrer on PBS, has lived
"I've traveled a lot and done a lot of photography, and this just seemed like a good project," he said. "A lot of these pictures were geared to trigger memory and lead you in so the picture would be a vehicle for your own narrative."
Lee said he hopes the book will lead to a closer connection between North County communities.
"I'd like more interaction and better relations between Adams, North Adams and Williamstown," he said. "So in some sense, that's part of the reason for this book, too."
