Stockbridge: State cultural panel set to meet

The Massachusetts Cultural Council will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, May 22, at the Chesterwood Museum and Estate.

Catherine Peterson, the executive director of ArtsBoston, will present information on a new arts audience initiative in the Woodshed at 2 p.m. following the close of the MCC board meeting.

Twenty-seven organizations from the Berkshires are participating in this research initiative to understand their existing audiences, broaden and increase those audiences, and increase marketing effectiveness.

State Reps. William "Smitty" Pignatelli and Tricia Farley-Bouvier will join the panel at 2:30 p.m. for a public reception at the Studio Plaza.

Pittsfield: Hillcrest counselor earns award

Cheryl Green of Hillcrest Educational Centers has received the 2012 Albert E. Trieschman Memorial Award for exceptional direct service to children from the Massachusetts Association of Approved Private Schools, which has 766 members.

Green, who lives in Great Barrington, received the award at the organization’s 34th annual conference and vendor exposition on May 4 in Marlborough.

The award is intended to acknowledge superior direct service contributions to special needs children by a clinician, specialist or child care worker.

Green has worked at Hillcrest Educational Centers for over 20 years and currently teaches in the Brookside Intensive Treatment Unit. She has counseled, comforted and cared for special needs children of every category.

Springfield: WMECO launches mobile site

The Western Massachusetts Electric Co. has launched a mobile website for customers who use smart phones.

Using the new mobile site, customers can view their account, pay their bill, view current power outages or report a new power outage, all from the specially designed website.

The mobile website works with either an iPhone or Android device. When customers access wmeco.com from a smart phone, they will be automatically directed to the mobile-friendly website.
