Pittsfield: Leadership program deadline Wed.
The Berkshire Chamber of Commerce has extended the application deadline for the 2013 Berkshire Leadership Program through Wednesday, Jan. 16. All applications must be received by 5 p.m. on that day.
Now entering its 16th year, the Berkshire Leadership Program prepares, involves and sustains leaders from diverse backgrounds who are committed and competent to address community challenges and improve the quality of life in the Berkshires.
With participants representing a broad range of organizations throughout the Berkshires, BLP has graduated nearly 400 community-minded individuals since its inception in 1997.
The cost to participate is $649 and includes all meals and overnight accommodations at Jiminy Peak during the retreat. Limited financial assistance is available.

Pittsfield: Young professionals to hold social
The Berkshire Young Professionals will hold a networking social on Thursday at Charland Jewelers at 875 Dalton Ave.
The event takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission is free for BYP members, and $5 for all others. All young professionals living and/or working in Berkshire County are invited to attend.

BYP’s steering committee is also seeking new members to serve three year terms that begin this year. The application deadline is Friday, Jan. 18. Applications can be obtained online at www.berkshirechamber.com/byp.
Pittsfield: Lunch-and-learn seminars at bank
In conjunction with the opening of its new branch on 99 North St., Berkshire Bank is holding two free lunch-and-learn seminars on Thursday, Jan. 17 and Friday, Jan. 18.
Both events will run from noon to 1 p.m. in the new North Street branch’s community room. Admission is free. Lunch will be provided.
College Financial Planner Kevin O’Donnell of BerkshireBanc Investment Services will address investing for the long-term, retirement planning and college savings at the first seminar, titled "Financial Planning."
On Jan. 18, Attorney Michael Sheppard, Berkshire Bank mortgage loan originator Kathy Kelly, and Realtor Andy Perenick will present "First Time Homebuyer’s Program."
