PITTSFIELD -- The Upper Housatonic Valley Heritage Area, in conjunction with the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission, will host a Berkshire County Historic Preservation Summit at Hancock Shaker Village on Monday, May 20. The hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The summit will focus largely on the recent release of the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission's Historic Preservation plan as part of the Sustainable Berkshires long-range plan for Berkshire County.

The draft, now available for public consumption, details the steps and actions identified for successful historic preservation and the key role that historic preservation plays within the community toward future economic success.

Discussions and presentations to address identifying key needs at historic sites and getting creative about restoration funding will also take place. These topics will be addressed by leaders in their field.

There is no admission fee. The public is welcome. Registration is requested.
