Local chamber taps
Danielle Thomas has joined the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce as coordinator of events and programs, president and CEO Michael Supranowicz has announced.
She will be responsible for coordinating and growing the chamber's programs and events, serving as staff liaison for all volunteer committees related to events, managing correspondence with vendors, and developing, maintaining and updating events calendars.
Thomas comes to the Chamber from Garment Valet in Boston, where she was the events and programs coordinator responsible for driving sales, marketing and organizing events, and managing client and employee advocacy issues.
A native of North Adams, Thomas holds an associate degree from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, R.I., where she majored in sports entertainment and event management.
Sheriff guest speaker
at chamber breakfast
Berkshire County Sheriff Thomas Bowler will be the guest speaker when the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce holds an "Eggs & Issues" breakfast event on Tuesday, July 16.
The event will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Country Club of Pittsfield.
Bowler will discuss how the Berkshire County Sheriff's office serves the community and new programs that have been implemented over the last two and a half years.
The cost is $10 for Berkshire Chamber members, and $15 for non-members. A light breakfast is included.
BBPW group offering
The Berkshire Business and Professional Women's organization is again offering career advancement scholarships to working women who reside in Berkshire County.
The scholarships may be used for tuition, books, child care, uniforms or other related educational expenses.
The scholarship committee and trustees of Berkshire BPW's nonprofit affiliation, Berkshire County Education Council (BCEC), determine scholarship amounts and the number of scholarships awarded. No more than $500 can be awarded to any recipient.
The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Friday, July 26.
To be eligible, women must be 25 years of age or older; reside in Berkshire County; be employed either full-time or part-time; must be enrolled in an educational program or course at an accredited college, technical or vocational school on a full-time or part-time basis; must complete the BBPW Career Advancement Scholarship Application Form and submit it with a personal statement; and submit two letters of recommendation.
