Pittsfield: Berkshire Bank honored for charity
Berkshire Bank was named one of Massachusetts' Most Charitable Companies by the Boston Business Journal at its annual Corporate Citizenship Summit on Sept. 12.
Overall, Berkshire was ranked fourth for its employee's volunteer efforts with more than 22,000 hours of service, and 36th for total cash giving with more than $1.1 million donated in Massachusetts.
Other companies honored included AT&T, IBM, Microsoft, New Balance, Verizon and Wal-Mart.
The Top Charitable Contributor award recognized Berkshire Bank and Berkshire Bank Foundation's nationally renowned Employee Volunteer Program, their philanthropic investments in the community through charitable grants, corporate giving, in-kind donations as well as the Recycle, Reuse & Renew Technology Partnership Program.
Pittsfield: BCC offers manufacturing program
Berkshire Community College is offering a non-credit entry level manufacturing program at no cost that starts Thursday, Oct. 17 at Taconic High School's Manufacturing Technology Lab.
Classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. for 13 weeks. The registration deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 15.
The Level 1 Entry Level Manufacturing Employee Program offers 66 hours of training in math, blueprint reading and metrology, as well as a 10-hour OSHA course and instruction in work readiness.
The Level 2 Program, to be offered in the spring, will include CNC and other operator and programmer training.

Williamstown: Seminars set on cyber security
Adams Community Bank will host an informational seminar on cyber security on Tuesday at the Williams Inn.
The session starts at 7:30 a.m., and includes a continental breakfast.
Kathleen Luczynski, the bank's chief information officer, will speak on the need to protect computers and networks from cyber attacks, assessing your risk, creating an information security policy, which state law requires for Massachusetts businesses, and more.
A free webinar on social media security will be offered at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30.
