Pittsfield: BHS Breast Center awarded

Berkshire Health Systems’ Comprehensive Breast Center has recently been recognized as a Certified Quality Breast Center in the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers Program.

This distinguished honor represents a commitment by the BHS breast center to provide the highest level of quality breast health care to patients in their community.

The National Quality Measures for Breast Centers were developed by referencing the Health Care Advisory Board’s Clinical Quality Dash Board for breast centers published in the fall of 2004. The National Quality Measures for Breast Centers reflect more than five years of work, which has culminated in the adoption of more than 33 National Quality Indicators.

Great Barrington: BSRCC gets $1,000 grant

The Berkshire South Regional Community Center has received a $1,000 grant from Bayer MaterialScience in Sheffield in support of the center’s Teen Outreach Nutrition Exercise (TONE) program.

The TONE program promotes fitness, nutrition, and community service, helping local youth to create healthy lifestyles that will serve them well when they mature into early adulthood.

Known locally as Sheffield Plastics, Bayer MaterialScience employs approximately 150 people at its two Sheffield facilities. As part of its ongoing commitment to the local community, the company supports many organizations in the surrounding area. Their funding to Berkshire South lends support to the costs of the students’ initial fitness assessments as part of the TONE Program.
