Newberg joins Newton insurance team
Attorney Joseph H. Newberg of Belmont, who owns a year-round home in Stockbridge, has been named to the "People Insurance" team at Appel Insurance Advisors of Newton.
Newberg, who has 40 years of experience in the legal field, recently retired as a tax partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in Boston, and was formerly a shareholder at Hutchins, Wheeler & Ditmar, P.C. He also served as a tax partner at Sullivan & Worcester, LLP, for many years.
He has lectured in the Graduate Tax Program at Boston University School of Law and served as an adjunct assistant professor in the Bentley College Graduate Program in Taxation, and as a co-chairman of the Boston Bar Association's International Tax Committee.
Newberg holds degrees from the University of Michigan, Harvard Law School, and Boston University's Graduate Tax Program.
Openings available in BCC business program
Openings are still available for the Green Business Careers Certificate program at Berkshire Community College, which starts Monday.
A collaborative effort between BCC and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, the training will prepare eligible individuals to work in clean energy in a variety of different capacities including: customer service, installation and maintenance, sales, distribution, manufacturing and conservation.
The training, which runs through June, aims to groom qualified individuals for a business career in clean energy and help them transition to BCC for their associate degree.
Participants must be 18 years or older, have a GED or high school diploma and meet grant income guidelines.
Farm-to-table event takes place Monday
Berkshire Grown will hold its annual farm-to-table networking event on Monday at Baba Louies, 34 Depot St. The hours are 3 to 5 p.m.
Farmers, food buyers and chefs are invited to attend. Wish lists and product information will be discussed.
