Pittsfield: Job training programs underway
Goodwill Industries of the Berkshires is accepting applicants for two innovative job training and skill development programs.
The courses, "Business 101: Spot-On-Cleaning," and "Soft Skills Development" will both begin this month.
"Business 101: Spot-On-Cleaning" is a 15-week-long custodial training program that began Monday. Enrollment is on a rolling basis, allowing new participants to join throughout the program’s progression. "Spot-On-Cleaning" provides training in the real world of custodial cleaning and includes hand-on cleaning experience at several Pittsfield locations.
"Soft Skills Development" begins Friday. The six-week program is offered in partnership with Mildred Elley. Classes will be held each Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mildred Elley’s Pittsfield campus at 505 East St. The "Soft Skills" program teaches life skills and helps participants to formulate and achieve career goals.
Goodwill’s tuition-free classes are available to those with barriers to work including the working poor, those with disabilities, those lacking a high school diploma or GED, dislocated individuals and families, ex-offenders, older workers, at-risk youth, non-English speakers and veterans.

Pittsfield: Basic supervision seminars on tap
Fred Pryor Seminars will hold a session on basic supervision on Thursday, April 3, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
The hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The seminar will discuss the required skills that every supervisor must have. The cost is $149.
Fred Pryor Seminars is holding similar events in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, but the Pittsfield session is the only one that will be held in Massachusetts.
Fred Pryor Seminars is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors.
Pittsfield: Credit union offers 2 scholarships
The Credit Union of the Berkshires is offering two $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors.
Eligibility information and applications are available at all Berkshire County High School Guidance Departments, or at www.cuotb.org.
The deadline is May 1.
