Pittsfield: Applications available for YWPA Award

Applications for the 2014 Young Women in Public Affairs Award are currently available from the Zonta Club of Berkshire County. The application deadline is March 21.

Women between the ages of 16 and 19 as of April 1, 2014, who study, live or work in Berkshire County at the time of the application are eligible to apply.

The goal of the YWPA program is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a young woman’s commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements, and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women. One award of $500 will be made to a Berkshire County student. The Berkshire County awardee will also be eligible for the Zonta District ($1,000) and International ($3,000) awards. Chicopee: BHS CFO to join business forum

Darlene Rodowicz, CFO of Berkshire Health Systems, will join a panel of Western Massachusetts business leaders who will participate in a leadership forum on Thursday, March 20, at Elms College.

The other panelists include: Michael Ginsberg, the managing director of Accenture’s North American Insurance Practice; Julie M. Quink, a principal of Burkhart, Pizzanelli, P.C., and a member of the American Insititute of Certified Public Accountants; and Peter DePergola, a clinical ethicist in the division of Academic Affairs at Baystate Health in Springfield. Springfield: Home builders course April 16

The Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Western Massachusetts is sponsoring a six-session course to help individuals prepare for the Massachusetts Construction Supervisor’s Licensing Exam.

Classes begin April 16 and will take place between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. for six Wednesdays at the Home Builders & Remodelers Association headquarters at 240 Cadwell Drive.
