Pittsfield: BYP to host year’s first Power Hour

The Berkshire Young Professionals will hold its first BYP Power Hour session of 2014 on Wednesday at Patrick’s Pub, 26 Bank Row.

"Your Guide to Getting Involved," will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The program begins promptly at 6.

Attendees will learn how to navigate the do’s and don’ts of volunteerism and board membership while hearing from a panel of speakers who will offer advice and opportunities for deepening connections with Berkshire-area nonprofits.

BYP Power House is a quarterly professional development seminar series for young professionals living and/or working in Berkshire County.

Admission is free for BYP membership cardholders, and $10 for non-members.

Great Barrington: Firm welcomes broker

Marji Keefner-West has joined Wheeler & Taylor Real Estate as a broker/associate, company President Doug Goudey has announced.

A native of Great Barrington, Keefner-West has been a licensed real estate broker for 23 years. She previously managed the Sheffield branch of the Great Barrington Savings Bank, and was involved in the opening of the Price Chopper supermarket in Great Barrington, where she later became a supervisor.

Keefner-West also is an active volunteer for several organizations, including the Fairview Hospital Auxiliary, the town of Great Barrington’s 250th celebration, and the American Cancer Society.

A graduate of Mount Everett Regional High School, Keefner-West also attended IBM Academy in Albany, N.Y. She has two children and four grandchildren.

Williamstown: Women professionals to meet

Northern Berkshire Business and Professional Women will meet on Wednesday at the Williams Inn.

Laura Baran, the development and special events coordinator for Kids’ Place of Pittsfield, is the guest speaker.

Networking will take place from 6 to 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner. The cost for dinner is $25.
