Lenox: Trio honored at United Way reception
J. Williar and Susan Dunlaevy and Peter Lafayette were honored at the Berkshire United Way's annual Leadership Reception on June 24 at Cranwell Resort, Spa & Golf Club. The Dunlaevys received the Ruth P. and Nicholas Boraski Leaders in Philanthropy Award, while Lafayette became the sixth recipient of the Edward J. Dery Jr. Memorial Award.
The Dunlaevys were honored for their dedication to improving the quality of life for everyone in our community regardless of their means and as community leaders who have demonstrated the ideal in terms of community giving, volunteering and philanthropy. Lafayette was honored for his lifetime achievement of embodying Dery's legacy of giving and caring for the community. The Berkshire United Way also recognized its third annual Pinnacle Group, which this year was comprised of 28 local companies that went above and beyond in managing their annual workplace campaigns.
Pittsfield: Pair joins Kids 4 Harmony board
Elizabeth "Betsey" Selkowitz and Edward Bride have joined Berkshire Children and Families' Kids 4 Harmony Advisory Committee. Bride, who lives in Pittsfield, is the president and founder of Berkshires Jazz Inc., and president of the New England Jazz Alliance, which operates the New England Jazz Hall of Fame. He is also a board member of the New England Jazz Ensemble, and vice president of American Jazz Venues, and chairs Pittsfield's Artscape Committee.
Selkowitz chairs the arts committee of Osher Lifelong Learning at Berkshire Community College and serves on the development committee of Barrington Stage Company. She has also served on many arts, health care and social service boards and advisory committees throughout Berkshire County. She lives in Pittsfield with her husband, Mark.
