Pittsfield: BBPW scholarship applications open
The Berkshire Business & Professional Women’s organization is again awarding career advancement scholarships to working women who reside in Berkshire County.
Scholarships may be used for tuition, books, child care, uniforms or other related educational expenses. Under the BPW’s bylaws, no more than $500 can be awarded to each recipient.
The deadline for application submissions is Friday, July 18. The scholarship awards will be presented at the organization’s kick off meeting on Sept. 8. Last year $5,500 in scholarships were awarded to Berkshire County area working women.
To be eligible, women must be 25 years of age or older; reside in Berkshire County; have either full or part-time employment; be enrolled in an educational program or course at either an accredited colege, or technical or vocational school on a full-time or part-time basis.
Eligible candidates must also complete the BBPW Career Advancement Scholarship Application form and submit it with a personal statement (two-page limit); and also submit two letters of recommendation.

1Berkshire, the county’s designated regional economic development organization, has opened the nomination process for the fourth annual Berkshire Trendsetter Awards.
The awards honor outstanding individuals and organizations whose achievements and commitment have strengthened the local economy and helped the Berkshires grow.
The deadline for submissions and completed applications is Friday, July 25. The finalists will be announced in mid-August. The winners will be announced at the Celebrate the Berkshires event this fall.
Nominations are currently being accepted in the following categories:
Creativity/Innovation; Growing/Advancing the Berkshire Economy; Marketing on a Shoestring; Newcomer of the Year; Nonprofit of the Year; Overall Marketing Campaign; Public Relations; and Young Professional Making a Difference.
