North Adams:

Top honor
for local dentist

Dr. Gene Messenger, of Messenger Digital Dentistry in North Adams, has received his diplomate status from The International Dental Implant Association (IDIA) which symbolizes the highest level of competence in implant dentistry.

Acceptance in the IDIA requires completion of at least 350 continuing education hours in dental theory training, passing a written examination and the successful placement of 75 implants on live patients.

Messenger, who has placed more than 700 implants, also mentors dentists in implantology and cad cam dentistry (one visit crowns with no impressions).

In January 2014, Messenger became the member of the first class in Massachusetts to be certified in Botox and dermal fill. Messenger Digital Dentistry is located at 1111 South State St.

Sugar Hill becomes Homecare Service

Sugar Hill at Home on West Street has changed its name to Homecare Service of Massachusetts to give the business a new identity, reflect the services that it now offers, and signify that it still belongs to the Sheehan Health Group.

In 2012 and 2013, Sheehan Health Group sold four Berkshire County nursing homes to Griffin American Healthcare of California. One of those facilities was Sugar Hill in Dalton, which was a separate facility from Sugar Hill at Home.

Lynn Pandell became the executive director of Homecare Service of Massachusetts in March.
