Williamstown: HWQD earns insurance credits

The Hoosac Water Quality District has received $647 on its workers compensation and property casualty insurance costs.

The municipality earned the credits though proactive and voluntary participation in loss prevention and risk management activities that are part of incentive programs offered by the district’s insurance provider, the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Agency (MIIA).

The district will apply the funding toward permiums for the next fiscal year. The MIIA awarded more than $2.3 million of premium credits collectively to its membership through its rewards program in fiscal 2014, and has awarded $22.1 million over the last 12 years The MIIA insures nearly 400 cities, towns and other public entities in Massachusetts.

Waltham: New VP named at High Tech Council

Veteran public affairs executive Mark Gallagher has been named executive vice president of the Massachusetts High Technology Council.

Gallagher will manage the council’s public policy agenda, which is established by its CEO and members to create a more competitive climate in Massachusetts for creating and sustaining job creation throughout the state’s diverse technology economy.

A longtime Statehouse presence, Gallagher comes to the High Tech Council after nearly a decade at Fidelity Investments where he led the financial services firm’s public affairs work in Massachusetts and helped manage state government relations activities across the country.

Boston: Bio Pharma conference slated

The ASAP Bio Pharma Conference 2014 will take place Sept. 3 to 5 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Boston.
