Berkshire Co-op Market hires new general manager
Following an extensive national search, Daniel Esko has been appointed the new general manager of the Berkshire Co-op Market by the co-op's board of directors. He will assume his new position on Feb. 1.
Esko spent 10 years at the Berkshire Co-op Market as grocery & wellness manager and operations manager before joining Shire City Herbals of Pittsfield as operations manager in 2014.
While at the co-op, Esko also provided support, training and consulting services for a number of other co-ops.
Prior to the co-op, Esko worked at the Kushi Institute Store in Becket and at Whole Foods in Boston.
Bridge Street corridor design open house set for January
The town of Great Barrington wll host a meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 6, so the public can view and have input on improvement plans for the Bridge Street corridor.
The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in the Fire Station at 37 State Road.
The town recently received a $2.1 million MassWorks grant to make improvements to that area, which include street, sidewalk and utility improvements.
Construction on the first part of the project between Main and School streets will begin this spring.
Four county towns added to Green Communities list
Adams, Egremont, Stockbridge and Windsor are among 19 state cities and towns that have been designated Green Communities by the state Department of Energy Resources.
They will receive more than $3.1 million for local clean energy and energy efficiency projects.
Adams has received $166,865; Egremont $138,570; Stockbridge $139,625; and Windsor $137,880.
