State gas prices fall for 10th straight week

Last week, state gas prices hit their lowest level in seven years. This week, they've dropped below that mark.

Massachusetts gasoline prices dropped another four cents, to $1.73 for a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded, according to AAA Northeast.

The state price is three cents higher than the national average for regular unleaded. A year ago at this time, the state's average price was 48 cents higher at $2.21.

The range in prices for AAA's later survey of state gas prices for unleaded regular is 42 cents, from a low of $1.57 to a high of $1.99.

BTCF gives grants to Meals on Wheels, SHINE programs

Elder Services' Nutrition/Meals on Wheels program has received five grants totaling $17,093 from the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.

A grant for $10,000 was received from the William J. and Margery S. Barrett Fund, while $4,000 was received from the Central Berkshire Fund. An additional $2,000 was received from the Central Fund for the SHINE program, which provides free of charge, unbiased health insurance information and guidance to those on Medicare.

The Barrett and Central funds also provided funding to purchase prescription lockboxes for eligible seniors in their catchment areas.



BCC receives $10,000 grant from MassDevelopment

Berkshire Community College is one of 10 lead organizations from across the state that have received funding from MassDevelopment's Amp It Up! matching grant program.

The grants will be used to conduct outreach and other innovative programs that will educate young people and adults about career options in advanced manufacturing.

BCC received a $10,000 grant in partnership with the Berkshire County Regional Employment Board, the Berkshire Innovation Center, the Pittsfield Economic Development Authority, BerkshireWorks Career Center and Interprint Inc.

Career Fair at Berkshire Hills Country Club

1Berkshire and the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce will hold the 2016 Berkshire Career Fair on Thursday, March 3 at Berkshire Hills Country Club, 500 Benedict Road.

The hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The general public is invited to attend. Attendance is free.

Approximately 50 businesses will be in attendance including firms from different industries, companies from financial and employment services, manufacturing businesses and hospitality venues.
