Summer Youth Job program accepting applications
State Attorney General Maura Healey has opened the application period for grant funding for an estimated 200 summer jobs across Massachusetts.
The Healthy Summer Youth Jobs Grant Program is funded with $300,000 recovered by settlements the Attorney General's office reached with pharmaceutical companies Johnson & Johnson and GlaxoSmithKline.
The program is aimed at providing young people in underserved communities with opportunities for employment that will impact public health, wellness and disease prevention.
The deadline for submitting applications is 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 4. The grants will fund youth employment between July 5 and Aug. 26.

Local chef to appear at James Beard House in NYC
Chef-owner Dan Smith of John Andrews Farmhouse in South Egremont will present his second solo dinner at the James Beard House in New York City on Tuesday, April 19. The Beard House is located at 167 West 12th St.
Referred to as the "architect of modern Berkshire cooking" by Travel & Leisure Magazine in 2004, Smith has owned and operated John Andrews since 1990.
The event begins at 7 p.m. The price is $130 per person for James Beard Foundation members, and $170 per person for the general public. Reservations: 212-627-2308.
Chamber Nite event at Elder Services on April 20
