BTCF awards $1.8 million in spring grants cycle
The Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation distributed a total of $319,245 in grants to individuals and nonprofits, and grants totaling nearly $1.5 million from donors with charitable funds at BTCF, in its first round of grantmaking for 2016.
In Berkshire County, the foundation awarded grants from the Alice and Richard Henriquez Memorial Fund/Youth World Awareness Program; Berkshire Environmental Endowment Fund; Lanesborough Initiative for Excellence Fund; and Lee Fund Educational Excellence.
In the Berkshires, grants to environmental organizations totaled $25,420; grants to nonprofits and individuals promoting social and human services totaled $13,650; grants to arts and culture programs totaled $8,600; while education and enrichment grants totaled $4,400.
Premium Outlets holding benefit for Kids' Place
The Lee Premium Outlets will host "Touch A Truck", a benefit for Berkshire County Kids' Place, on Saturday. The hours are 9 a.m. to noon.
More than 25 vehicles and heavy equipment will be on hand for truck enthusiasts to check out up-close including fire trucks, boom trucks, dump trucks, front loaders and other construction vehicles; and the Berkshire County Sheriff's Department K9 and mounted units.
Admission is $5 per person, $15 for a family of four, and $20 for a family of five or more (two adults max for family pricing). Children under age two are admittted free.
On Friday, the Premium Outlets will unveil reserved veteran military parking space for military veterans in honor of National Military Appreciation Month. The event is open to the public.
