Berkshire Taconic tops $2 million in summer grants

The Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation distributed a total of $430,378 in grants to individuals and nonprofits during its second round of grantfunding for 2016.

A total of $496,786 in scholarships were distributed to graduating high school seniors, and grants totaling over $1.1 million from donors with charitable funds at the foundation.

In Berkshire County, BTCF awarded grants from the Fund for Williamstown; James and Robert Hardman Fund; New World Fund; and the Simple Gifts Fund.

It also awarded five education enrichment grants and 41 scholarship funds.

West Realty holding community service day

Bishop West Real Estate will sponsor a community service day on Thursday, according to co-owner Corey Bishop.

With assistance from Home Depot, which is partnering on the event, associates will scrape and paint the softball building and shelter at Russell Field in Adams.

Work will begin at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day.

Overview of Medicare from Elder Services on Aug. 9

Elder Services of Berkshire County Inc. will present Medicare 101, an overview of Medicare, on Tuesday, Aug. 9 in the cafeteria at 877 South St. The hours are 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
