BBPW hosting Career Advancement Awards

Berkshire Business and Professional Women will begin its 2016-17 year by presenting the Career Advancement Scholarship Awards on Monday, Sept. 12 at Zucchini's Restaurant, 1331 North St.

The registration/cancellation deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 7. RSVP is required by Sept. 7.

The scholarship committee reviewed and selected this year's winners over the summer. The scholarships are funded, in part, by BBPW's monthly dinner raffles.

Networking begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6.

Jewish Federation holding small business discussion

Professor Leonard Quart will talk about the challenges facing small businesses in New York City on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Congregation Knesset Israel, 16 Colt Road.

The free program is part of the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires' Connecting With Community Series.

Quart is professor emeritus of cinema studies at Grad Center CUNY and the College of Staten Island, and a Berkshire Eagle contributor.

The program precedes a kosher lunch at noon ($2 suggested donation for adults over age 60, $7 for all others).

Grand opening for pottery studio at new location

Daniel Bellow Pottery will hold a grand opening party at its new location at 17 Railroad Ave. on Saturday. The hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The new studio, new kiln and results of the first firing, which took place Monday, will be on display.
