DALTON — The Board of Governors of the Dalton Community Recreation Association has set May 19 for its annual Gibb Kittredge Volunteer Award Night, to be held at Wahconah Country Club, beginning at 6:30 p.m. This award attempts to honor the memory of Gibb Kittredge, and bring recognition to a person or organization that embodies the generosity and spirit that he demonstrated.

In addition, one boy and one girl will be selected to receive the Pop Smith Youth Volunteer Award. Last year's Gibb Kittredge Award winner was John Kittredge; Greg Boino and Megan Boino were recognized as the youth winners.

This year, the Board of Governors invites nominations for the Kittredge Award from the community. Nominees should have contributed their time, talent and energy to the CRA, the DYC, and or other organizations important to the town of Dalton and the surrounding hilltowns. They should actively support programs, facilities, etc. for youth, be making a positive difference in the lives of the community, and be working behind the scenes.

They should also be in a leadership role, furthering the goals and survival of nonprofit organizations, and have put in many years of volunteer
