ADAMS — Caitlin Rose Schutz of 56 Meadow St. recently accepted a commission into the United States Air Force.

Second Lt. Schutz was given the oath of office by her brother, First Lt. Jacob N. Schutz of the Massachusetts Army National Guard, at a ceremony at American Legion Post 160 in Adams.

Second Lt. Schutz graduated with a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth in May and from Commissioned Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., in September. She is stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio where she is working as a registered nurse in the medical center.

She is a 2004 graduate of Hoosac Valley High School. She is the daughter of Norman and Rosanne Schutz of Adams.
