The state Board of Higher Education will consider the trustees' recommendation for review decide whether to approve it, during its June 19 meeting at Cape Cod Community College.
BCC expects that the new president will be in place by July 1. He or she will be the college's seventh president in its nearly 53-year history.
The finalists include Steven G. Budd, who has served as president of River Valley Community College in Claremont, N.H., since 2007.
Ellen Kennedy is also a finalist. She has been BCC's interim president since January, when Paul Raverta retired from his seven years of service. Kennedy previously held the positions of vice president for administration and finance and chief financial officer for the college.
The third finalist is Valerie R. Roberson. Since 2010, she has served as vice president of academic affairs at Joliet Junior College in Illinois.
Last week, the three finalists chosen by the BCC Presidential Search Committee participated in campus visits and meetings with college faculty, staff, and students, and interviews with the board of trustees. They were selected among 38 applications and seven semifinalists.
"I think the process has been very thorough, and the campus community had a chance to attend forums with the candidates and to ask questions, which I think they appreciated," said Susan Lombard, chair of the BCC board of trustees. "I think Ross Dindio and the search committee did a wonderful job and came forward with three good candidates, which they were charged to do."
Since January, Ross Dindio, vice chair of the BCC Board of Trustees has led the national search process for Paul Raverta's successor. The search process is being facilitated by R.H. Perry & Associates, and the search committee includes representation from BCC's faculty, staff, students, and other trustees.
