ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) -- A Vermont heating technician who was nearly bludgeoned to death with a wrench while fixing an apartment-building furnace has returned home 15 months after the attack.
Fifty-one-year-old Mike Kuligoski returned to his Danville home Thursday.
Kuligoski was attacked on Feb. 27, 2011, while making an emergency repair call in St. Johnsbury. He was in intensive care for a month and has spent the past 14 months at four rehabilitation centers.
The Caledonian Record (http://bit.ly/NvGNil ) reported that Kuligoski's left arm and left leg are still paralyzed and that he has vision problems and short-term memory loss.
Twenty-two-year-old Evan Rapoza was charged in the attack, but charges were later dropped after he was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. He's being held at a mental health facility in Brattleboro.
