PITTSFIELD -- After making the decision to close Sinai Academy of the Berk shires, a Jewish day school, the school's board of directors must now sell the building.
In 2005, a "jewel box" addition was made to the original structure by award-winning firm Taylor & Miller Arch itecture and Design of Pitts field and Brooklyn, N.Y. This was the firm's first commercial project.
The building is currently listed at a selling price of $699,000 with Jeffrey Rose, broker and owner of Rose Real Estate in Pittsfield.
Both he and the Sinai directors are hopeful that the site's location and space will be marketable as the city of Pittsfield continues to im prove its downtown district.
"It's zoned for general business and at a wonderful location on the entrance corridor," said Rose.
Originally built in 1974, the 8,400-square-foot facility has six bathrooms, multiple classroom and office space, as well as a large central meeting space. The adjacent parking lot includes 35 parking spaces.
