PITTSFIELD -- Police are seeking information about who may have fired gunshots early Sunday morning in a city neighborhood. While no one was hurt, a vehicle and a house were damaged, police said.

It took place on Weller Avenue near Briggs Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

A resident of the duplex at 79-81 Weller Ave. called police Sunday afternoon after discovering a bullet hole on the side of the building.

A bullet also shattered the front windshield of a Ford Focus parked nearby, said police.

Pittsfield Police canvassed the neighborhood Sunday. Several residents who live nearby told police they heard what sounded like gunfire, but had assumed someone was shooting off fireworks.

The police recovered shell casings and bullets from the scene.

"There are no victims and no suspects," Pittsfield Police Capt. Detective Patrick F. Barry told The Eagle. "Anyone who might have seen something should call us."

Detective John Gray is the lead investigator in the case. The PPD can be reached at (413) 448-9700.
