PITTSFIELD -- Chase Preite had a no-hitter entering the sixth and Zach Brassard had a two-run base hit in the sixth to lead North Adams past the Tyler Aces, 5-4, at Clapp Park. Preite finished with three strikeouts.

"We were putting the ball in play, but right at everybody," said Aces coach Bill Dassat. "[Preite] just kept the ball away from us. He made us hit where he wanted us to hit it."

The Aces finished with three hits, including a two-run single from Joe DiMassimo in the sixth. North Adams led 5-0 before Tyler (1-1) mounted a comeback with two runs each in the sixth and seventh.

NORTH ADAMS -- It was a wild night at Joe Wolfe Field as the SteepleCats lost for the first time this season, 9-7 to the Danbury Westerners on Wednesday.

The strike zone was hard to find as both teams combined the same amount of walks as hits, 16.

North Adams took advantage of six free passes from Danbury starter Jimmy Coughlin as it built a 4-0 lead in the first two innings.

"They spotted us a nice little cushion and in my opinion the only way they were going to get back into it was if we let them," manager Bryan Adamski said. "I didn't think they were going to put enough offense together swinging the bats to climb back into it."

Tom Zengal put the first run on the board for the Westerners in the fourth with a solo home run. Then the SteepleCats came unraveled in the fifth inning, as Danbury put up six runs to take the lead.

Zengal ripped a 1-1 pitch into right field in the eighth for a two-run double that gave Danbury the lead and the eventual victory.
