WACHUSETT -- The Pittsfield Suns scored three runs in the eighth inning Wednesday to defeat the Wachusett Dirt Dogs, 6-1.
Trailing 1-0, Pittsfield (13-16) scored a run in the fifth and took the lead on Ryan Deitrich's solo homer in the sixth.
In the eighth, the Suns scored a pair of unearned runs and got an RBI single from Travis Smith.
Jason Condit picked up the win for the Suns, going 51 3 innings, allowing only three hits and an earned run. Condit walked two and struck out six to lower his ERA to 2.91.
SteepleCats 6, Blue Sox 5
HOLYOKE -- After losing its last three games, the North Adams SteepleCats completed a late-inning rally Wednesday.
The SteepleCats entered the eighth inning trailing 4-3, before Adrian English and Sheehan Planas-Arteaga hit back-to-back doubles to tie the game. Shane Klemke then hit a triple to score Planas-Arteaga and move North Adams into the lead. Brett Clements hit the SteepleCats' third double of the inning to score Klemke.
Matt Longfield picked up the win after coming in for starter Tyler Badamo in the sixth inning. Longfield pitched 11 3 innings, striking out all four batters he faced. The win was his sixth of the season, and increased his strikeout total to 23 in less than 17 innings pitched.
Adam Sargent pitched the eighth and Thomas Bamman pitched the ninth to grab his fourth save.
Charlie Law and Bryan Soloman each had an RBI in the victory. North Adams collected 14 hits in the game, but left 11 runners on base.
