PITTSFIELD -- Pittsfield South and Don Gleason North Little Leagues each picked up semifinal wins to earn a date in the finals of the District 1 11-year-old Tournament on Wednesday.

The championship game will be Friday night at 5:30 p.m. at Deming Field. The winner will advance to the state championships next week.

Pittsfield South stopped Great Barrington 17-0 in a four-inning contest, while Don Gleason North knocked off Dalton-Hinsdale, 14-5.

Ian Benoit led South with three hits, including a grand slam. Joe Traversa also had three hits, while Hayden Harrington, Paul Wales and Carter Matthews each had two hits. Benoit and Jon Halse combined to throw a one-hitter, the hit coming from Great Barrington's Jared Henry.

At Clapp Park, Don Gleason North got three hits from Cam Winters, who had two doubles. Reece Gilette had three singles. Chris Womble and Justin Bernardo had two hits each for North. For Dalton, Tanner Hill and Gabe Verdi had two hits each.

Little League 12s

PITTSFIELD -- Pittsfield West pounded out 14 hits to defeat Pittsfield Don Gleason North, 10-1 at Springside Park in the consolation bracket semifinals.

Mike Kays had three singles, Brandon Peaslee had a single and a double and Jake McNeice and Jake Corcoran had two hits each for the winners. McNeice picked up the win.

For the North, Austin Rachiele had a triple and an RBI single. Izaiya Mestre took the loss.

West will meet North Adams in today's consolation bracket final at Springside Park at 5:30 p.m. The winner faces winner's bracket champ Pittsfield South in the championship round on Friday.
