BECKET -- A Winsted, Conn., man involved in a two-car crash remained in serious condition Saturday at the Albany Medical Center but is expected to recover, police said.
Police reported that Kelly Sullivan, 41, suffered internal injuries during the crash, which was reported at about noon Friday on Jacob’s Ladder Road, which is also Route 20.
Sullivan was driving westbound in a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle apparently crossed the median in the road and struck a vehicle driven by Jason Mato, 39, of Copake, N.Y. Mato was eastbound in his 2007 GMC pickup.
Sullivan was transported to Lee High School, where he was picked up by a Lifestar helicopter and transported to Albany Medical Center, according to Sgt. Mark Portieri of the Becket Police Dept.
Portieri said Sullivan is expected to recover.
"Fortunately, it wasn’t as bad as we initially thought," he said.
Both men were wearing seat belts, he said.
At this point, a cause for the accident has yet to be determined, according to Portieri. A state police accident reconstruction team was at the scene on Friday, and the investigation is ongoing, Portieri said.
Mato was treated at Berkshire Medical Center and released Friday afternoon.
