WATERTOWN -- Berkshire County's five-player contingent in the Massachusetts Junior Amateur Championship will be coming home a day earlier than they had planned.

Lenox High School's Thomas Villetto came the closest to making the 36-hole cut in the 54-hole event at Oakley Country Club on Tuesday, shooting a second-round 7-over-par 78 to finish at 157. The cut to the low 50 and ties was 155.

Kris Vahle (81-81), Villetto's teammate with the Millionaires, and Pittsfield High School's Ryan Grande (82-80) had the next best finishes for county players with 162 totals. Stockbridge Golf Club members Hunter Clutz (84-82) and Matthew Finnerty (84-82) tied at 166.

Dedham's Patrick Frodigh (67-73) is 2 under after 36 holes and leads the tournament by three shots.
