PITTSFIELD -- Verizon Wireless announced Friday it will be launching its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Pittsfield and 10 other towns in Berkshire County in the coming weeks.

Verizon Wireless customers with compatible 4G LTE smartphones, modems, tablets and mobile hotspots will be able to wirelessly surf the Web, stream music and video, and download files up to 10 times faster than customers on 3G, according to the company.

In addition to Pittsfield, Verizon Wireless said its 4G LTE network will be available in Adams, Great Barrington, Lanesboro, Lee, Lenox, New Ashford, Richmond, Stockbridge, West Stockbridge and Williamstown.
