PITTSFIELD -- Ground spraying to kill adult mosquitoes will take place this week within a mile radius of West Nile virus and two miles of Eastern equine encephilitis findings. Spraying takes place between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday: Southeast Pittsfield, areas south of East Street and east of South Street within a two-mile radius from Elm Street at Williams Street.
  • Friday: Southwest Pittsfield, areas south of West Street and west of South Street within a two-mile radius from West Housatonic Street at Callahan Drive.
  • Saturday: Northeast Pittsfield, areas north of East Street and east of North Street within a mile radius from North Street at Crane Avenue and within a mile radius from Coltsville Corners.
  • Sunday: Northwest Pittsfield, areas north of West Street and west of North Street within a mile radius from West Street at Forthill Avenue.

Residents may want to avoid exposure by staying inside, closing windows, and turning off fans and air conditioners.
