PITTSFIELD -- A New York man is being held on bail on charges that he sexually assaulted a juvenile over the course of several days in August.

David Neyer, 23, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., was arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court on nine felony counts of rape of a child with force and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Neyer allegedly raped a young girl in Pittsfield between Aug. 10 and Aug. 24. The victim is under the age of 16, according to court documents.

Neither the alleged victim's exact age nor the circumstances surrounding the allegations are being made publicly available.

On Tuesday, bail was set by Judge Fredric D. Rutberg at $50,000 cash or $500,000 bond for Neyer under an agreement between his attorney, Michelle Mechta, and the Berkshire District Attorney's Office.

Neyer was arrested Sunday night just before midnight at a Pittsfield residence.

A hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 13, but the case will likely be heading to Berkshire Superior Court.
