LEE -- When Lee's boys soccer team moves the ball well, it can score goals.

When Lee has its full side back, it will likely be able to stop the opposition better than it did Tuesday.

John Graziano scored twice and assisted on Jake LePrevost's early second-half goal, but the shorthanded Wildcats fell 5-3 to Sabis.

A number of starters were forced to sit out the game, and the Wildcats trailed 3-1 at the half. LePrevost scored in the first minute of the second half, but Andrew Berthioume finished his hat trick for Sabis 5 minutes later. Graziano added a direct-kick goal in the 61st minute, but Sabis put it away 13 minutes later on a Josh Evans free kick.

"When we control the ball and are able to move it to the flanks, we create a lot of opportunities," Lee coach Matt Kollmer said. "If John can get a foot on it, he's got a real good shot at scoring it."

Freshman Nick Wood stopped 13 shots for the Wildcats.

"Goalie is not his first pick for a position, [but] he had some really good saves," Kollmer said. "He kept us in there for a while."

MCLA women fall

NORTH ADAMS -- Things got incrementally better for the MCLA women's soccer team on Tuesday afternoon. It did not, however, result in a win.

The Trailblazers fell to 0-2 after visiting Smith came to Shewcraft Field and left with a 1-0 win in the Pioneers' opening game.

The Trailblazers gave up six goals in an opening-day loss to UMass-Boston. The visitors peppered MCLA with 33 shots and 14 shots on goal. MCLA keeper Danielle Heinsohn made 13 saves in the game and was 2:08 away from registering her first regulation shutout of the year.

Smith got on the board at 87:52 when Allie Rooney scored on the rebound of a shot by Olivia Mallari. Mallari's original shot deflected off a MCLA defender right to Rooney and Rooney put it in the upper left corner.

The Trailblazers had a chance to tie the game in the final minute. Lindsay Borbolla put a shot off the left post and her direct kick in the final seconds was blocked by the Smith defense.
