PITTSFIELD -- Nearly all of the 600 customers of Western Massachusetts Electric Co. who lost power Sunday afternoon, should be back on line by 6 p.m. Sunday, utility officials said.
WMECO reported the outage occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Westwood Road, between Barker Road and West Housatonic Street. A complicated circuit issue -- triggered by a squirrel -- caused a transformer on a utility pole to malfunction, according to spokeswoman Katie Blint. The blown transformer led to electrical wires snapping off several poles.
No one was injured.
