PITTSFIELD -- A New York man accused of raping a 13-year-old girl is being held on $50,000 cash bail after his arraignment on Thursday in Berkshire Superior Court.
David Neyer, 23, of Plattsburgh, appeared in court with attorney Richard D. LeBlanc on Thursday morning and pleaded not guilty to nine counts of rape and abuse of a child.
According to police and prosecutors, Neyer sexually assaulted the young girl in Pittsfield over the course of several months, between July 24 and Sept. 2.
Neyer was arrested by the Pittsfield Police on Sept. 2 just before midnight at a Pittsfield residence. He has been in jail since his arrest.
On Thursday, Judge John A. Agostini ordered Neyer held at the Berkshire County Jail & House of Correction on $50,000 cash or $500,000 bond. If Neyer makes bail, he has been ordered to stay away from the alleged victim.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Berkshire District Attorney Gregory Barry.
