PITTSFIELD -- A city man was arraigned on Tuesday in Berkshire Superior Court on felony charges related to a crash in Lee last summer that left a woman with severe injuries.

Justin R. Larimore of Plinn Street pleaded not guilty to five charges, including third-offense drunken driving. He was released on personal recognizance by Judge John Agostini on the conditions Larimore refrain from drinking alcohol or driving while his case moves ahead.

According to Lee police, Larimore on Aug. 26 led police on a high-speed chase and forced a state trooper off the road before crashing his car into the Laurel Street (Route 20) bridge over the Housatonic River in Lee. Both he and his passenger, 27-year-old Michelle Martin of Hinsdale, were injured and had to be extracted from the Chevrolet Caprice by emergency workers.

According to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office, Martin suffered severe injuries in the crash. The type of injuries were not indicated.

On Tuesday, Larimore pleaded not guilty to single counts of driving to endanger causing serious bodily injury, third-offense drunken driving, driving to endanger, failing to stop for police, and driving with a suspended license, second offense.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Berkshire District Attorney Gregory Barry. Larimore is being represented by attorney Michelle Mechta.
