NORTH ADAMS -- The Hoosac swim teams started with a sweep of St. Joseph's, getting a 65-62 win in the boys meet and a 105-60 victory in the girls.
Emma and Julia Whitney led the Hurricane girls with two wins each. Emma took the 200 freestyle in 2:14.03 before winning the 500 free in 5:54.22. Both times qualified her for Western Mass. Julia Whitney won the 200 IM (2:28.55) an the 100 butterfly (1:10.19). St. Joe's got a win in the 100 back (1:14.81) from Maddie Roulier while Katie Nugai won the 100 free (1:03.62).
The Hurricanes also got single wins from Elizabeth Bernardy in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.03) and Michaella Vecchiarelli in the 50 free (28.53).
In the boys meet, Keith Pero won the 200 freestyle for Hoosac in 2:25.78. Connor Lein captured the 50 freestyle for St. Joe's in 26.35. The Hurricanes also got a win in the 200 individual medley from Mike DiSanti in 2:41.43.
Taconic Hills girls 92, Pittsfield 72
CRARYVILLE, N.Y. -- Taconic Hills set five school records in dispatching visiting Pittsfield.
Mia Modaferri set marks in the 100 backstroke (1:11.22) and 200 IM (2:35) while Abbey Nack claimed records in the 100 free (59.41) and 50 free (26.39). Jamie Albrecht swam the 100 breaststroke as a non-scoring exhibition, setting a school mark in 1:22.39.
All three swimmers were also part of two winning relay teams (200 medley relay, 200 free relay).

CRARYVILLE, N.Y. -- Pittsfield cruised to this road win to open the season.
The Generals won eight events, including two by Ken Black. Black took the 200 free (2:13.65) and the 100 free (59.78). Zach Williams, Jon Lee, Aaron Coty and Peter Desrosiers also had individual wins for Pittsfield.
GREAT BARRINGTON -- Monument Mountain had five swimmers post Western Mass. qualifying times on the first day of the season in a sweep of New Lebanon.
Derrek Rueger qualified in the 100 IM (2:19.03) and the 500 free (5:40.27). Will Palmer punched his ticket in the 100 butterfly (1:05.04) and 100 backstroke (1:05.95). Will Palmer also qualified with his win in the 200 free (2:05.52).
On the girls side, Maeve Wilber had qualifying times in the 200 free (2:09.97) and 100 backstroke (1:06.81). Rowan Rice joined her with wins in the 100 free (1:01.93) and 100 breaststroke (1:18.33).
